Beginning Ceramics choice projects
Students will spend the second half of the semester learning how to think and make like a self-directed artist.
More choice in technique and compositional focus. More choice in subject and theme/concept. Students will work to find the passion in their learning by making their own problems to solve and finding the LOVE!
As a framework for this self directed study, students will work to create a portfolio of choice based artworks and present ideation, process of making and final product for each project in a shared online format (Google Slide Show, Website, Blog, etc.). All students will make a personalized, handled mug on the wheel and then choose 4 of the following themes and/or artist behaviors to explore for the remaining choice/passion directed hand building/wheel projects:
.
Ceramicists Explore Space
Collaborative Installation
Ceramicists Study Function
The Personalized Vessel
Creative Function
Empty Bowls Donation
Ceramicists Explore Culture
Contemporary (Current Day) Culture and Beliefs
The Historical Vessel
Ceramicists Explore Identity
Inside/Out- Who am I?
If I were a vessel...
If I were a ________________.
If you really knew me...
Ceramicists Respond to Themes and the world we live in:
In addition to choosing their conceptual problem of focus, student will choose a focus for technique, subject and compositional focus.
They will use this document to help them create a focus in each of these areas.
They can use this document if they need scaffolding for writing goals for area of focus.
