Final choice theme
1. For their final choice exploration, students will choose one of the following themes/artist behaviors to guide them in making their highest quality piece this semester (technically, compositionally and conceptually).
- Ceramicists tell stories.
- Ceramicists explore place.
- Ceramicists explore Identity.
- Ceramicists make us laugh. Ceramicists make us cry.
- Ceramicists create structures.
- Ceramicists study the figure.
- Ceramicists study the vessel.
- Ceramicists make work for celebration and ritual.
- Ceramicists make work to sell and give.
- Ceramicists explore spirituality.
2. After choosing a theme, students will brainstorm 20 or more thoughts or images that come to mind when the think of their theme/artist behavior. Think of it as a free flowing visual conversation about possibilities. Don't think too much. Just get it out- make lists, word maps, thoughts, bring in bits of your research….

4. Students will then brainstorm 10 or more additional thoughts or images that come to mind when they think of their theme/artist behavior and work they have just found. 5. Finally, narrow in on what you are going for and draw it from several different angles.
