Pinched Brain Installation
Follow this tutorial and steps to make a pinched brain!
Step by Step...
- Gather your materials! Get a weighed out (golf ball sized) piece of clay from the front bucket. If white slip is not on your table, please ask the teacher for some.
- Shape your clay into a brain shape.
- Cut it in half with a wire cutter.
- Hollow both sides to a 1//4" thickness and lightly compress ("pinch").
- Score and slip the edges and squeeze together.
- Roll out a reinforcement coil and blend it along the seam.
- Use a knife to mark the center of the brain.
- Cover half of the brain with a layer of slip.
- Grab a small pinch of white clay from the block (not from the pre-weighed balls of clay please)
- Roll out super wet tiny coils and manipulate them to look like the coils of a brain.
- Nestle the brain texture onto the slipped surface.
- Repeat for side 2.
- Redefine center line.
- Clean lightly with your fingers and water.
- Poke the needle tool into the center of the back of the brain to avoid explosion.
- Take a picture and store in a bag until given directions about collection. Be sure that brain does not dry.
